A five-year Strategic Plan for the Northern Territory PHN

Background: 

The Northern Territory PHN (NTPHN) has engaged Beacon Strategies to develop Northern Territory PHN’s organisational strategic plan which will establish the organisation’s vision and purpose from 2023-2028. The final product will play a crucial role in the organisation’s governance, including being the key link between the Constitution and operational planning, and performance. The plan will allow the NTPHN to tell its story more precisely, engage better with its stakeholders and help them take an evolutionary step as an organisation.

The Northern Territory covers an area of approximately 1.4 million km2 with a total population of just over 245,000 people. Unlike other PHNs, NTPHN is also accountable for the development of the region’s workforce through the Rural Workforce Agency (RWA NT). The final product will reflect strategies tailored to suit this unique environment. 

This project will follow a step-by-step process developed and successfully implemented by Beacon Strategies in several prior projects. The process is as follows:

1. Project establishment
We will develop a project charter and project schedule outlining what will be delivered over the course of the project and how.

2. Look internally
Review the previous strategy and hear from key stakeholders within the organisation.

3. Look externally
Undertake a scan of the strategic environment to explore where the organisation could be from a broader perspective.

4. Prepare the stakeholders
Prepare organisational leaders who will be involved in the formulation of the plan.

5. Formulate the plan
Facilitate interactive strategic planning workshops while ensuring all ideas align with the organisational objectives. 

6. Develop the product
Begin an iterative process to create a public-facing, graphically designed strategic plan. Develop the document until the final product has met the organisation's satisfaction. 

7. Support change
Develop an internal operational plan template. Provide strategy execution advice, implementation advice and guidance.

Outcome:

This project has only recently commenced! We will update this project’s outcome once it starts to wrap up.
